Bangkok's vibrant Chinatown is located in the Samphanthawong district and is centered along Yaowarat Road from Odeon Circle, where a ceremonial Chinese gate marks the entrance, up to the Ong Ang Canal. Chinatown does not consist of only Yaowarat Road, but also includes others such as Charoen Krung Road, Mungkorn Road, Songwat Road, Songsawat Road, Chakkrawat Road, and others.
Chinatown has been the main business center for the Chinese community since they moved from their old site some 200 years ago. There are many small streets and alleys full of shops and vendors selling all types of goods. Yaowarat Road is also famous for many varieties of delicious foods and is a great place to get street food at night.
Editor's Note: Our map pin points to the location of the entrance gate. Chinatown goes from here to the NW along Yaowarat Rd.
