Hoppe is a Brown Cafe located in the "intellectual district" which is near Muntplein and Koeningsplein. This bar tends to attract Dutch celebrities, professors, and other influential people, as well as tourists and locals. Hoppe is essentially 2 connected bars, one much older in appearance than the other. The older half has been around since 1670. There is not much in the way of seating and you should expect to stand if you wind up here.

Had an awesome time at this bar. Very old Brown Cafe with some kooky, yet friendly people. Had some great brew, conversation, and lots of laughs with the locals. Highly recommended!

One of the oldest brown cafes in Amsterdam, Hoppe is a cool old place with a galley style bar, and lots of dark wood. It certainly isnt a place for rowdy people or clubby music, but it was a great place to have a few beers and talk to some interesting and lively people.
