Reportedly one of the oldest bars in Amsterdam located in a building from the 15th century. The name of the bar means "In the monkey" as sailors supposedly payed their bills with a monkey when they did not have enough money. The bar is small, quiet, and decorated in sort of a West Indies trade motif.

The bar is very small and quaint, but it has character, and to think of how long it has existed, or that sailors would trade monkeys from the west indies for beer, well, it just is too cool to pass up. If they still did that, I could probably trade some friends for beer...

Int Aepjen is a small, quiet bar near Central Station and a couple of doors down from Het Elfde Gebod. They had 3 beers on tap and a full bar. They bartender was very friendly and the decorations were fun to look at.
