Located very close to Leidsepleine, Los Pilones claims to have the best Mexican food in Amsterdam. It is a very small restaurant so reservations are recommended.

Fun funky place- cute ambience and good margaritas, but I dont think Amsterdam knows a lot about mexican food. We were told this was authentic, one of the better mexican food places in Amsterdam- maybe it was? I dont know- it was fine, just not spicy and not that flavorful. Unless you were dying for some mexican, I would just wait til I got somewhere where they knew what that was.

Let me start this by saying that this is probably the best Mexican food in Amsterdam, but that isn't saying much.. Los Pilones is a very small, but cool looking restaurant and they do some things really well. Their chips, salsas, guacamole, and drinks were very good. We all had to have tacos because they had run out of everything else.. My brother-in-law got beef tacos, but the beef doesn't taste the same as home. The rest of us got chicken and they were fine, but bland. Hot sauce is nearly impossible to find here too. If you are really missing Mexican food, I would go here. If you can live without it, just avoid Mexican food here altogether.
