These falls are located in Mountain Pine Ridge, an area where fir trees cover the landscape, a phenomenon seen nowhere else in the world so close to the equator. Hidden Valley Falls drops off of this ridge. Recently proclaimed as a national monument and opened to the public, this waterfall is reputed to be the highest waterfall in Central America. Although its name suggests otherwise, it is closer to 1600 ft. There is a US $2 charge to view the falls and cold drinks and assorted crafts made by the caretaker, Pedro's family are for sale.
