Hacienda Mundaca
Pirate Fermin Mundaca arrived on Isla Mujeres in the mid 19th century and he established the Hacienda Mundaca, an estate known then as "Vista Allegre", that eventually consumed 40% of the island. Complete with gardens with imported plants and animals, he even had a "solar clock" commissioned. Mundaca fell madly in love with a young local 37 years younger than him. He attempted to use his wealth to impress her, however, she married another man. Mundaca reportedly went insane and died a lonely and crazy man. Hacienda Mundaca is located near Playa Lancheros toward the southern end of the island.

This place isn't that interesting. Basically, you will see a pretty sad building that this guy called his house, a very sad zoo will lonely, poorly cared for animals, and some gardens. There is a reason they are only charging $1 for this and seeing the animals will probably just have you leave feeling sad.
