Mt Lemmon
Mount Lemmon is in the Santa Catalina Mountains located in the Coronado National Forest north of Tucson, Arizona, United States. It is 9,157 feet above sea-level, and receives approximately 180 inches of snow annually. It is also home to the southern most ski area in the United States.

The only paved road that leads to the upper reaches of Mt. Lemmon and the Santa Catalina Range is one of the most scenic highways in the southwest. It provides access to a fascinating land of breathtaking vistas, outlandish rockscapes, cool mountain forests and deep canyons spilling out onto broad deserts. Because the road starts in the Lower Sonoran vegetative life zone and climbs to the high forests of the Canadian zone, it offers the biological equivalent of driving from the deserts of Mexico to the forests of Canada in a short stretch of 27 miles. For your convenience, there are turnouts at scenic overlooks and several campgrounds and picnic areas. Dozens of hiking trails offer access to the mountain’s backcountry canyons and ridges.

We headed up here for the first time on a Wednesday and it was pretty dead. However, during the weekends, particularly during the summer months, they have concerts, camping, and Oktoberfest in the fall. During the winter months is skiing. I like the place because it is a nice change of scenery from the desert, and more importantly, the temperature up there at 8000 feet is much better for me. I would imagine that going to an event up there would be a lot of fun.
