My mother and I went for lunch at 11AM when Sakura opened. I was expecting great food and fun since remembering how good the Sakura on Oracle Rd (northwest side of Tucson) was years ago. It has since closed. We were the only ones at the teppan table. The 'chef' did not 'perform' the daring antics with knives and food as teppan chefs are noted for nor even seem engaged in the experience with us. I ended up tipping him anyway and he was surprised. We requested that salt not be put onto the food (meaning added from a salt shaker). Meanwhile, we ordered chicken with veggies and fried rice. Miso soup was served first. It was very salty. The chef saturated thel three foods with soy sauce. We were expecting more healthy 'pure' food in the grilled chicken meat and crisp veggies. Actually, I asked for brown rice but it isn't offered there. I ate little of the soy sauce fried rice. The food quantity was huge, however, we ended up tossing the leftovers away later.
All personel at Sakura were courteous. The interior of this aged Sakura could be spiced up as well. It definately looked dull, aged and had material peeling off of the windows.
