Queen's Bath was once a well-kept secret by locals, but many tourists now know about it. It's long-time secrecy was partially due to its location - hidden in a Princeville area neighborhood. Quuen's Bath is named after Queen Emma, the mother of Prince Albert, which is where the Kauai city of Princeville gets its name. The short hike to this attraction can be pretty muddy, but you do get to pass a little waterfall on the way. Once at the shore, you will have to hike about 200 yards over lava rock so make sure you have proper footwear.

Once you have arrived, you will see a large swimming pool sized tidepool that you can swim and snorkel in. Sometimes during the summer months the pool is not refreshed often enough and the water turns green and dirty and is not suitable for swimming. Perhaps the best reason to visit this place is that it is a sanctuary for green turtles who feed off the algae on the lava rocks.

During the winter months, especially October through May, the area can be very dangerous with large waves crashing over the lava rocks. Many people have been swept away and drowned so use caution at all times.

If you like turtles, you will love this place. We saw about 30 of them and were able to get pretty close to them. Very cool experience. We didn't swim in Queen's Bath, because the water looked mungy, but a few other people were. Beautiful area.
