Just outside of the French Quarter in Historic New Orleans, Mandina’s has rebuilt since Hurricane Katrina. Beyond just repairs, Cindy, the 4th generation proprietor, has taken renovating the restaurant all the way back to the 1930s, when Mandina’s first opened. The kitchen is entirely new, but the food is unchanged and most regulars can order without looking at a menu.
The quintessential neighborhood restaurant, there are things on the menu that have been on the menu for 75 years. Mandina’s is loud, it’s friendly, and it’s fun. If you are in the mood for some old style Creole favorites, Italian specials, and some standard American fare thrown in, this is the place to go.
Mandina’s prides themselves on their bartending traditions, and is seen as the cornerstone of this restaurant. Also unchanged since the 30’s, is that neither credit cards or checks are accepted.
