Maunga Pu, which means "top of the mountain", is the highest point (400ft) on the island of Aitutaki and offers some fairly spectacular views of the island and the lagoon. You can hike to the top, or you can ride your scooter if you are an above average rider. The terrain is somewhat steep and uneven, so consider carefully whether you are capable of driving to the top. Otherwise, it is about a 30 minute hike.

I haven't been here in 7 years, but I am sure this particular attraction has not changed at all in that time. Maunga Pu is basically a grassy area at the top of the island. There are some OK views of the lagoon and other part of the island from here. There is a short semi-steep hill to the top. An easy walk. Some of the people in our group walked and others of us took the scooters up. It had been raining and some people were worried. We found a back "road" down from the hill that was basically like driving down a steep muddy creek. Probably not the best idea, but it sure was fun. Maunga Pu might be a nice picnic spot, but there isn't too much to see or do up there.
